Chapter Two

The Handsome Gentleman Caller

Abigail Mae mumbled to herself while she washed the dishes. She knew exactly why Darlene had left her behind, she just didn't want to accept it. Darlene was scared for her. She had only been at the ranch for a few months and she hadn't come under the best of circumstances. Darlene had been very kind and gracious to let her stay. In those short months, though this place had become more of a home than her old one ever was. Still she was young and wide-eyed and wanted to see and experience anything she could. She was still a teenager and her hormones were screaming at her. She knew from previous trips to town that there were quite a few handsome young men there. Maybe she would've gotten up the nerve to talk with one of them this time.

Abigail Mae Lockhart had always been shy about her body. She'd always been a bit heavier than most girls, but as she became a woman her shape had filled out more. She was still plump, but she often saw men staring at her heavy breasts, large hips and ample backside. At first the looks shamed her and she took to wearing loose fitting dresses to try to hide her body, but there had come a day when her breasts simply grew too large to conceal. Then the attention started to become a rush for her. And, Maddie had helped too. She'd never heard anyone speak so frankly of sex. Most of Maddie's stories still made her blush, but they also made her very curious.

Abigail Mae put away the last clean plate just as she heard a whistle from outside. She knew instantly that it was Annie calling out. Why did she whistle though? Had something gone wrong and Darlene and Maddie come back already? They'd only been gone a few hours. But, as she stepped out of the front door of the small building that held the kitchen, dining room and Abigail Mae's bedroom, she saw why Annie had beckoned her.

It was the most handsome man she had ever seen. He was a bit dusty and dirty from the ride, but his hair seemed almost golden and his scruffy beard only helped make his blue eyes all the more striking. Annie stood in front of his horse; she had her rifle slung over her shoulder and her stance was guarded. He dismounted and tipped his hat in her direction.

"Afternoon, ma'am. Don't mean to trouble you none, but I ran into a couple ladies on the road said I might water up my horse here before movin' on. Name's Bill Parker." The man offered his hand out to Annie. She offered him a cold stare in return, clearly sizing him up.

Abigail Mae came bouncing in towards him, almost skipping. His eyes darted over towards her, and it was clear he noticed the way her ample bosom bounced up and down as she came hopping towards him. She grabbed his hand with both of hers and gave it a big shake.

"Welcome," she said. "You and your horse are welcome to water and rest here at the Double D Ranch."

Annie gave her a cold stare.

"What? He saw Darlene and she said it was ok. Ain't that right, Mister Parker?"

"Just Bill, please," he replied with a sly smile and pulled her hand up for a kiss. "And I don't want to cause any trouble."

"It's no trouble at all, Bill," Abigail Mae said, her cheeks turning a bright red, all the more noticeable because of her light complexion. "In fact, it won't be long before supper time, and I always make too much. If you want to join us after you wash up, I think I'd like that very much."

"Well, that sounds just fine to me, Miss…."

"Abigail Mae… you can call me Abigail Mae."

"Well, Abigail Mae. I'm much obliged."

"Let me get you some fresh water from the well and I'll go get started on supper." It took all her self control not to sprint to the water pump while Annie took the reins of his horse and led the stallion over to the watering trough.

"Isn't he just the most handsome thing you've ever seen?" giggled Abigail Mae.

Annie had no response except a sharp look that made it clear she still did not trust the man.

"Oh, don't be so sour." Abigail Mae said, heading off with the water bucket.
